Northeast Portland Neighborhoods
An overview of some of the more popular Northeast Portland neighborhoods:
Irvington/NE Broadway
Irvington contains large, historic homes built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, some of which have been turned into bed-and-breakfasts. NE Broadway is a clear indication of why Portland is so rich in character. It is home to dozens of restaurants, boutique retailers and some well known chains such as Peet's Coffee. Close to Lloyd Center Mall, the Oregon Convention Center and the Rose Garden Arena.
NE Alberta
Starting in the 1990’s, a major revitalization of both residential and commercial buildings, resulting in rapidly rising property values. Numerous galleries, restaurants and smaller retail shops are now a prominent fixture on almost every block of Alberta Street. A lively arts community that throws a big party every Last Thursday of the month. Funky galleries, independently owned boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants. One of Portland’s most culturally diverse neighborhoods, with many African-American and Latino-owned businesses.
Laurelhurst
Bordering Northeast and Southeast Portland, Laurelhurst is home to one of Portland’s favorite parks (Laurelhurst Park). Laurelhurst boasts tree-lined streets, old character homes with hardwood floors, and old PDX architecture. Laurelhurst is one of Portland’s most desirable neighborhoods with plenty of local options for eating out, entertainment, and shopping. In addition, Laurelhurst Park is one Portland’s most popular places to spend an afternoon.
